Long Beach Phi Phi is the quiet side of Phi Phi Don. It is a 600 m strip of soft white sand on the island's southeast coast, facing Phi Phi Leh, with a handful of resorts, clear water for swimming and a reef a short swim from the shore. It is only five minutes from Ton Sai by longtail boat, but it feels like a different island once the day-trippers leave.
This guide explains how to get to Long Beach Phi Phi, what the walk and the boat cost, which resorts and bungalows to choose, what to do on the beach and when to go. It draws on Phuket 101, Hotels.com, Booking.com, Isla Guru and a live GetYourGuide listing that we checked on 26 October 2026. Prices change, so confirm them before you book.

Walking to Long Beach Phi Phi From Ton Sai
The walk takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on the source. Phuket 101 says it starts near Carlito's Bar on the eastern edge of Ton Sai and has steep, uneven sections, so wear proper shoes and not flip-flops.
Start at Ton Sai
Head for Carlito's Bar on the eastern edge of the village.
Follow the concrete path
The path runs past the mosque, then turns into a jungle trail.
Cross the rocks
Some sections are rocky and steep. At high tide you may need to scramble over slippery rock.
Arrive on the sand
The trail comes out at the north end of the beach, near the simple bungalows.
Walk at low to mid tide and in daylight. Phuket 101 says you should not walk the path at night, and it advises bringing a torch if you plan to stay for sunset and go back by foot.

Things to Do at Long Beach Phi Phi: Snorkeling, Kayaks and Sunset
Long Beach Phi Phi is built for slow days. Swim in the morning, snorkel before the boats arrive, then settle in for the sunset. The activities below are all within a short walk of any resort.
Snorkel at Shark Point
Shark Point is a rocky outcrop about 100 to 150 m offshore at the southern end, according to Phuket 101, and Hotels.com puts it at about 200 m. It breaks the surface, so it is easy to find. Small blacktip reef sharks are fairly common, especially early in the morning, and Phuket 101 calls them harmless to people. You will also see reef fish, coral and sometimes cuttlefish.
A mask and snorkel rent for about ฿100 a day, and fins cost extra. A longtail to take you out and wait costs about ฿500. The best time is about 7 to 8 AM, before the tour boats start. Take care at low tide, when the reef is shallow, and watch for longtails because not every driver looks out for swimmers.

Kayak, massage and sunset
Resorts rent kayaks, and open-air salas along the sand offer Thai massage for about ฿300 to ฿400 an hour, say Phuket 101 and Hotels.com. The beach faces southwest, so sunsets with Phi Phi Leh in the foreground are the main event. Hotels.com adds that volleyball nets are set up and games often start as the sun sets.
A simple day at Long Beach Phi Phi
- 7 to 8 AM: snorkel at Shark Point while the water is quiet and the sharks are active.
- Mid-morning: breakfast at your resort, then swim or rent a sun lounger for about ฿100.
- Afternoon: kayak along the coast, or book a massage in one of the open-air salas.
- Late afternoon: walk to the beach bar at the southern end for the sunset.
- Evening: eat at your resort, or take a longtail back to Ton Sai before the boats stop.
Walk to a neighbouring beach
Hotels.com says Loh Moo Dee Beach is reached by a small trail in about 12 minutes, and describes Ao Poh as a quiet beach with good snorkeling. Isla Guru calls Loh Moo Dee quiet and undeveloped, with sunset views and coral nearby. Check the tide and the light before you set out.
Long Beach Phi Phi Snorkeling Tours: Reaching Maya Bay and Pileh Lagoon
Shark Point is a good first snorkel, but the larger sites are on Phi Phi Leh, and no tour boat leaves from Long Beach Phi Phi itself. You need to join from Ton Sai Pier, which is a five-minute longtail ride away. Our guides to the Phi Phi island tour options and to Maya Bay cover the full range. This listing is the simplest half-day choice.
Phi Phi: Half-Day Longtail Boat Snorkeling Tour
A four-hour trip around Phi Phi by longtail boat, with Monkey Beach, Viking Cave and Pileh Lagoon, then snorkeling stops at Loh Samah Bay and Maya Bay. It starts near Ton Sai Pier.

The listing is rated 4.0 out of 5 from 41 reviews and showed a price from about €19 per person on the French-language page we checked. Reviewers like the value and the number of stops, and some say the crew gives little commentary and the stops are busy, so expect a quick, crowded trip. The listing says the national park fee of ฿400 per adult and ฿200 per child is included. It is not suitable for pregnant women, people with reduced mobility, heart problems or high blood pressure.
Maya Bay closes every year from 1 August to 30 September, and during that time visitors can only see the beach from the boat, according to the listing. For snorkeling spots around the island, see our guide to snorkeling in Phi Phi.

The best months for Long Beach Phi Phi are November to April, when the sea is calm and flat, according to Phuket 101 and Hotels.com. From May to October the sea can be choppy, and swimming can be difficult at low tide because of rocks and coral.

Eating and Nightlife at Long Beach Phi Phi
Food at Long Beach Phi Phi is simple and comes from the resorts. Phuket 101 says each resort has a restaurant that is open to non-guests, and that there are no independent restaurants or street food stalls. Phi Phi Long Beach Resort serves Thai and international food, pizza and barbecue, while Phi Phi The Beach Resort offers poolside seafood and Thai dishes. Prices are in line with the rest of Phi Phi.
Nightlife is minimal. Phuket 101 mentions occasional fire shows on the beach, and Hotels.com says a beach bar holds a fire show every night at 9 PM, so ask when you arrive. For bars and parties you take a longtail back to Ton Sai, and our guides to Phi Phi restaurants and Phi Phi nightlife cover that side of the island. Boats stop running late at night, so plan your return.

Safety and Practical Tips for Long Beach Phi Phi
Most risks at Long Beach Phi Phi come from the tide, the boats and the path. The tips below come from Phuket 101 and Hotels.com.
- Walk at low to mid tide, and not at night. The path is steep, uneven and sometimes slippery, and it is dark after sunset.
- Bring a torch if you stay for the sunset and plan to walk back.
- At low tide the reef can be very shallow, with sea urchins on the rocks, so wear reef shoes.
- Longtails pass through the Shark Point area, and not all drivers watch for snorkelers. Stay close to the shore or use a boat escort.
- Monsoon currents can be strong, so only go out on calm days. Hotels.com advises beginners to take an organized tour.
