It depends entirely on your travel style. Chaweng is best for first-timers, nightlife lovers and those who want beach convenience. Bophut suits couples and digital nomads with its charming Fisherman's Village. Maenam and Choeng Mon are ideal for families. The west coast (Taling Ngam, Lipa Noi) is perfect for honeymoons and total seclusion. We recommend Bophut as the best all-round zone for most travellers.
Accommodation in Koh Samui ranges from $35/night for a dorm bed at Lub d to $900+/night at the Four Seasons. Budget hotels with pools cost $50-80/night. Mid-range 4-star hotels run $120-300/night. Luxury pool villa resorts start from $280/night at Silavadee up to $600-900 at Conrad and Four Seasons.

Chaweng is better if you want beach convenience, nightlife and a large selection of restaurants and shops. Bophut is better if you want charm, character and a more authentic Thai island atmosphere — Fisherman's Village is one of the most beautiful areas in Koh Samui.
