Phi Phi nightlife is compact and loud: a strip of beach clubs on Loh Dalum Bay, a handful of bars and a Muay Thai ring in Ton Sai Village, and fire shows on most nights. Most venues are within walking distance of the pier, and most places stop the music around 2 am. This guide covers the best bars and clubs, what a fire show involves, closing times and alcohol rules for 2026, drink safety and a daytime pirate boat party.
We compared Hotels.com, Backpack Bob, Hopsa, Visit Thailand Today, Fodor's, World Nomads, Smartraveller and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and checked a GetYourGuide listing on 30 October 2026. Guides to Phi Phi nightlife disagree on opening hours and on which bars are still open, so we give closing times only where sources agree and say where they do not.

Where is the best nightlife in Phi Phi?
Phi Phi nightlife centres on Loh Dalum Bay, where beach clubs such as Slinky Bar, Apache and Stones run fire shows and play music until about 2 am, and on the bars of Ton Sai Village, such as Phi Phi Reggae Bar with its Muay Thai ring. For a gentler evening, watch the sunset from the far end of the bay or join the daytime pirate boat party.
Phi Phi Nightlife at a Glance: Bars, Clubs and Fire Shows
Phi Phi nightlife splits into two zones. Loh Dalum Bay, nicknamed party beach, holds the open-air beach clubs, and Backpack Bob counts about 15 bars and clubs there, busiest from around 10 pm, with clubs closing at 2 am. Ton Sai Village holds the pubs, the pool-table bars and the Muay Thai ring.
| Venue | Area | Best for | What the guides say |
|---|---|---|---|

| Ibiza Beach Club | Loh Dalum Bay | Pool and dance floor | Pool parties by day, house and techno at night |
| Apache Beach Club | Loh Dalum Bay | Techno and house | Busy after 9 pm; fire dancers on a beachside stage |

Before the bars, eat well: our Phi Phi restaurants guide lists 20 places from street food to beach seafood, and the Koh Phi Phi guide puts the island in context.
Phi Phi Nightlife on Loh Dalum Bay: The Beach Clubs
Loh Dalum Bay is where most Phi Phi nightlife starts and ends. The beach is open around the clock, the clubs are open-air, and they sit side by side, so you can walk from one to the next. Guests staying nearby will hear it, which we cover under where to stay.
Slinky Bar
Slinky is the most famous of the Phi Phi nightlife venues. Backpack Bob lists a fire show with fire skipping and limbo, free shots for people who take part, a roof slide, a mechanical bull and neon body painting. Visit Thailand Today gives it 4.3 from 2,848 Google reviews, says it is cash only with ATMs on the way in, and says doors close at 2 am. One undated reviewer there paid 150 baht for a piña colada and 140 baht for a large Chang beer.
The same page calls the service hit and miss and says the bucket drinks are strong and inconsistent, and Hopsa warns that people near Slinky may offer illegal substances. Decline politely and keep walking. Guides disagree on opening hours: Hotels.com says 7 pm to 2 am, while Visit Thailand Today says 9 am to 2 am.
Ibiza Beach Club
Ibiza Beach Club mixes pool parties by day with a dance floor at night, with house and techno and guest DJs, according to Backpack Bob. The guides disagree on the days: Backpack Bob lists four pool parties a week, while Hotels.com says they run mostly at weekends and on holidays, so ask when you arrive. Hopsa notes that some guests complain about the noise.
Apache, Stones and the other clubs
Apache Beach Club is the techno and house option, with spirit buckets and a crowd that builds after 9 pm, and Hotels.com says fire dancers perform on a beachside stage. Stones Bar plays loud dubstep and EDM in a fluorescent cave, with fire dancers around 9 pm and face and body painting. Backpack Bob adds that Stones is one of the calmer places before dark, which makes it a reasonable place for an early drink.

Sunflower and The Only Bar for a calmer start
Hotels.com lists Sunflower Beach Bar at the northern end of Loh Dalum Bay with a fire show every evening and acoustic live music, while Fodor's places it at the eastern end next to the Tsunami Memorial Park, with local reggae bands. Backpack Bob mentions hammocks and floor mats. The Only Bar is built over rocks at the far end of the beach, with sunset views, and Hopsa calls it quieter than the main strip, with live sports.
Phi Phi Nightlife in Ton Sai Village: Muay Thai, Live Music and Pool Tables
The village bars in Phi Phi nightlife suit people who want a seat, a pool table or a sports screen more than a beach dance floor. They are also easier to reach on foot from a guesthouse or hostel in Ton Sai.
- Phi Phi Reggae Bar is a five-bar complex in central Ton Sai with a Muay Thai ring, pool tables and a big screen. Visit Thailand Today gives it 4.5 from 1,942 reviews, lists 6 pm to 1 am daily and puts it about five minutes from the pier. Hotels.com adds that drunk spectators are sometimes invited into the ring.
- Carlito's is a beach bar in Ton Sai East with reggae and house DJs and a fire show on the sand, per Hotels.com. Visit Thailand Today gives it 4.2 from 1,071 Google reviews and mentions live musicians. Its closing time is 00:00 on one guide and 02:00 on another.
- Hippies Bar sits above the beach at the east end of Ton Sai, with driftwood decor, food, pool tables, live sports and a fire show, plus live music and DJs after 8 pm, according to Hotels.com.
- Rolling Stoned Bar is about 450 m east of the pier, with four pool tables, floor cushions and live rock in high season, says Hotels.com.
- Backpacker Bar is known for beer pong and cheap cocktails, says Hopsa. Hotels.com and Backpack Bob list a similar beer-pong bar, Stockholm Syndrome, with two floors and pool tables, and Backpack Bob says it was renamed, so the sign may differ.
The Muay Thai ring
The Reggae Bar ring is the best-known show in Phi Phi nightlife. Backpack Bob describes professional fighters opening the night, after which tourists can fight three one-minute rounds under a referee who stops unfair bouts, with a plastic medal for the winner and a free whisky bucket for both. That account is older, so check the rules at the door. Climbing into a ring after several buckets is rarely a good idea.
Bars come and go
Phi Phi nightlife changes quickly. Backpack Bob says Banana Bar has been shut since late 2019 and that the Dubliner Irish Pub reopened as The Sports Bar, yet Hotels.com still lists both. Treat any list, including ours, as a starting point and look at the bars as you walk through the village.
Phi Phi Nightlife Fire Shows: Times, Games and Safety
Fire shows are the signature of Phi Phi nightlife, and Hotels.com lists them at Slinky, Sunflower, Carlito's, Hippies, Apache, Stones, Ibiza and Chill Out Bar. Start times vary by source. Hopsa says the show at Slinky starts around 8 pm and lasts over an hour, while an older account on Nomadic Matt puts fire acts at about 10 pm, so arrive by dusk and expect shows to run through the evening.

After the show, performers invite tourists to join fire skipping and fire limbo. Backpack Bob says participants win free shots, and Hotels.com warns not to drink too much and overestimate your flexibility during the fire games. A guest post on Nomadic Matt, originally written in 2010, describes burns and an infected rope burn after fast, drunken rounds. It is anecdotal and old, but the logic holds: your reflexes slow as you drink.
Watch first
Stand back for the show and see how fast the rope or limbo bar moves before deciding to join.
Join early, or not at all
The risk rises as people drink, so skip the games after buckets.
Know where the nearest help is
Tourist Police are on 1155 and medical rescue on 1669, according to Smartraveller.
Phi Phi Nightlife by Boat: The Pirate Boat Party
The one Phi Phi nightlife party on the water is the pirate boat. An older guide on Backpack Bob describes the Phi Phi Pirate Boat as the only remaining daytime booze cruise, leaving at midday with a bar and a DJ. It is not a late-night option: this tour returns at 19:30, which leaves time for a shower before the bars fill. For tours that run after dark, see our guide to plankton snorkeling in Phi Phi.
Phi Phi: Pirate Boat with Snorkeling, Kayaking and Party
A day on a pirate-style boat from Ton Sai Pier, with snorkeling and kayaking stops around Phi Phi Leh, free time at Maya Bay and a sunset stop, with music, dancing and games on board.
Check on the listing before you book
- Meets at Relax Bar by Phi Phi Pirate on the pier at 11:30
- Snorkel gear, kayaks, Thai lunch and fruit included
- Alcoholic drinks and towels are not included
Powered by GetYourGuide. Price, duration and availability depend on your date.
The listing is rated 4.9 out of 5 from 84 verified reviews and showed a price from about €58 per person on the page we checked. The stops are Monkey Beach, Viking Cave, Pileh Lagoon, Maya Bay, a second snorkeling and kayaking stop off Phi Phi Leh, Palong Bay and the sunset, before a return to Ao Ton Sai Pier at about 19:30. Reviewers praise the crew, the cheap cocktails and the free photos. One reviewer noted few young travelers that day, so the crowd can be mixed.
The listing contradicts itself on the 400 baht national park fee: one section lists it as included, while the good-to-know section says it is paid in cash at check-in, so confirm with the operator. Maya Bay also closes every August and September, so check which stops run on your date, and read our Maya Bay guide for the current rules.
Phi Phi Nightlife Closing Times, Prices and Rules
Most Phi Phi nightlife venues stop the music around 2 am, and Hotels.com says bars generally stay open as long as customers remain. Alcohol rules changed this year, so older guides can be wrong.
- Sales hours. From 29 May 2026, alcohol may generally be sold from 11:00 to 24:00 at licensed retailers, restaurants and authorized venues, and the 14:00 to 17:00 break is gone, according to the TAT and the Pattaya Mail. Hotels, licensed entertainment venues and approved event spaces may follow different conditions.
- Drinking age. The legal age is 20, and clubs and some bars check IDs strictly. Visit Thailand Today suggests carrying a laminated photocopy of your passport photo page or at least a phone photo.
- Special days. The TAT says sales can be restricted during elections and major religious days, with no dates given, so ask your hotel before a Buddhist holiday.
- Prices. Guides give no reliable price list. The only figures we found are 150 baht for a cocktail and 140 baht for a large beer at Slinky from one undated review, and Hopsa calls Freedom Bar, Kongsiam and Stones reasonably priced.
- Cash. Slinky is cash only, so bring baht before you go to the beach.
Phi Phi Nightlife Safety: Buckets, Spiked Drinks and Getting Home
Phi Phi nightlife is mostly rowdy rather than dangerous, but drinks and fire are a risky mix. The main advice from World Nomads and Smartraveller is simple.
- Buckets. A bucket is ice, an energy drink, a mixer, straws and half a bottle of spirits, says Hotels.com. World Nomads calls pre-mixed buckets the riskiest, because you cannot know what is in them, and says the ice may not be clean. Paying a little more for bottled drinks served from behind the bar lowers the risk.
- Methanol. Smartraveller warns that poor-quality alcohol can contain methanol, which is highly toxic, and advises sticking to branded, sealed drinks.
- Spiking. Keep your drink in your hand and stay close to friends you trust. If you feel suddenly drowsy or dizzy, tell a friend at once and get urgent medical help.
- Bar bills. Do not order where prices are not displayed. If you are overcharged, stay calm, negotiate and leave quietly.
- Getting home. Bars in Ton Sai and on Loh Dalum Bay are within walking distance of each other, so the simplest plan is to sleep close. If you stay at Long Beach or Laem Tong, check how you will get back after midnight before you go out.
In an emergency call the Tourist Police on 1155, medical rescue on 1669 or the police on 191, according to Smartraveller. Do not swim after drinking.
Where to Stay for Phi Phi Nightlife, or Away From It
If you want to walk home from Phi Phi nightlife, stay in Ton Sai Village or behind Loh Dalum Beach. Backpack Bob warns that accommodation near the beach stays loud late into the night, and says Long Beach and Tonsai Beach are quieter, with the north of the island quietest. Our guide to where to stay in Phi Phi compares the areas, and Phi Phi hotels and Phi Phi hostels cover beds near the bars.

For a calmer evening, try Long Beach or Laem Tong Beach, climb to the viewpoint for sunset (see our Phi Phi viewpoint guide), or join a plankton snorkel. Crowds peak from December to February and rough seas are common from May to October, according to Visit Thailand Today, so see our best time to visit Phi Phi before you plan a week of Phi Phi nightlife.
