Where to Stay in Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party: Haad Rin
Stay at Haad Rin if you want to walk home from the party. Thai Holiday Guide says prices can triple and beachfront rooms sell out for the December and January parties, often with a three-night minimum, and that June to September gives better guesthouse rates. Our Haad Rin Beach guide covers the two beaches, and our Full Moon Party guide has the dates.

Thai Holiday Guide calls Thong Sala the cheapest base on the island, with fan rooms near the pier at ฿300 to ฿500 a night, Baan Manali Resort at about $37 and The Pier Resort at about $20. The drawbacks are no swimming beach in town and brief flooding near the pier in heavy rain between October and December. Our Thong Sala guide covers the town in detail.
Where to Stay in Koh Phangan for Sunsets: The West Coast
Haad Salad and Haad Yao are described by Thai Holiday Guide as good for sunsets, couples and families, and Sri Thanu as the yoga and wellness area. The overview lists Salad Hut at about $156 a night as an example on that coast. Where to stay in Koh Phangan for sunsets is a longer ride from Haad Rin, so these areas suit travellers who do not plan to party.
