Crowd on Haad Rin beach, the heart of Koh Phangan nightlife
The Full Moon Party crowd at Haad Rin.

Koh Phangan nightlife is built around parties that run on their own calendars: the Full Moon Party at Haad Rin, the ticketed Half Moon Festival and Jungle Experience in Ban Tai, and OXA in the forest. Outside those nights, the island is quieter than its reputation, and the evening plan is usually a night market and a beach bar.

This guide compares the main nights, explains how entry works and lists the safety points that Thai Holiday Guide stresses. It draws on its Haad Rin page, Half Moon Party page, Jungle Experience page and Koh Phangan overview, all read on 6 November 2026.

Bars and Markets: Calmer Koh Phangan Nightlife

On non-party nights, the evening plan is the markets. The Saturday Walking Street in Thong Sala runs from 16:00 to 22:00 and is free to enter, per Thai Holiday Guide, and the Phantip night market runs nightly. Thai Holiday Guide describes Sunrise Beach as a one-kilometre strip of bars, and Sunset Beach as calmer, with much less foot traffic outside party nights. See our Koh Phangan night markets guide and Rin Nai Beach guide.

  • Keep valuables at your hotel and bring only the cash you need.
  • Arrange your ride home in advance, especially for the jungle venues.
  • Check that your travel insurance covers nightlife.

Thai Holiday Guide gives the swimming and glass warnings for Haad Rin, and the closed-shoe and insurance advice for the jungle parties.

Where to Stay for Koh Phangan Nightlife

Ban Tai is closer to Half Moon and Jungle Experience. Our where to stay in Koh Phangan guide compares the areas, and our Haad Rin Beach guide covers the party side.
